New Nine Holes Latest Plans
Weybrook Park has always had plans to be a 27-hole golf course. The existing course and clubhouse location were designed to have three loops of nine holes, work on the third nine holes began in Spring 2007.
The third nine is located on a most attractive piece of land, dominated by two valleys which provide dramatic changes in level for a number of holes. The valleys also allow water features to be introduced in a natural setting, creating testing challenges for all golfers. The par 36 layout has a variety of par 4s offering risk and reward shots and birdie opportunities, however most golfers will be relieved with a par on the long 12th and testing 14th holes. The two par threes both have ‘carries’ over water from high tees, but facing opposite directions they offer very different challenges on windy days. Likewise both par 5s are different, with the 10th providing an opportunity to get home in two, but the up and down 15th is a genuine three shotter.
The 90-acre site allows for good segregation between the holes and provides room for generous fairways and testing greens, which will make Weybrook Park the stand out course in the area.
The new practice facility, giving 300yards of long game practice with bunkers and greens for short game is already in use, whilst the new nine holes are partially completed with three of the holes due to open for the summer of 2010. The scheduled for completion of the other six is 2011/12.
